New Additions to the Farm...

We have some unhappy sheep... WHY? Well, because yesterday, we added to our Muddy Boots Farm Family....

We got 2 goats! Rose & Riley...

They are (hopefully) bred and will have babies (??) for us in the Spring. Then we are planning on milking them, I mean I am planning on milking them. They will provide us with milk for about 8 months out of the year.

Mmmm.... healthy, yummy milk. And maybe some cheese and soap.....

Welcome Rose & Riley!!!

Oooooh, Nubians! My goats were Nubians; the one had triplets and they're THE CUTEST BABIES EVER!! I wish kids could be house trained, 'cause I'd keep 'em in the house they're so darned cute. I'm not a huge fan of goat's milk to drink, unless it's really, really fresh. I never liked that "goaty" flavor, though the boys didn't mind it too much. If I still had the goats, I'd probably make soap and cheese with the milk rather than drink it (especially since I'm heading down the vegan path these days). I do love goats though!

So are the sheep jealous? Do the goats bug them? This is neat that you're going to be getting your own fresh goats milk. My husband and I planted a big vegetable garden last year, and we have lots of fruit trees, so we've been trying to produce more of our own food lately. All fall and winter I've been pulling stuff out of the freezer and off the shelves that I've made -- it is really fun. This morning I drank a big glass of grape juice that I made from 50 pounds of grapes someone gave me in the fall -- it made a whole bunch of jars that I popped in the freezer. It's such fun to discover other bloggers who are doing the same thing :) Good to meet you!
