The Safe Sippy 2- Review and Giveaway!

With all of my kids, I went from breast-feeding to using a sippy-type bottle. I only used an actual bottle a handful of times. And it has worked well for us. The problem is finding a sippy that will last, and that is safe for your child to use. I not too long ago, found myself at the store looking though a poor selection of sippy cups. I got my son one of them, but he was NOT happy about it. Reasons? Well, he can't talk but I will make a few educated guesses on his behalf. First, he couldn't hold on to the thing. It had smooth sides, and I had to help him for the longest time. He STILL doesn't like to hold it (2 months later). Second, For some drinks, like milk, he really had to suck hard on it to get it to come out. You could hear the milk trying to make it's way through the tip. Third, I didn't like it because it is a cheap plastic!

I'm pretty sure I can come up with MORE reasons, but I want to make a point about this before I loose you on this bad sippy! I did some looking on the Internet and found Kid Basix, and the Safe Sippy 2. I read about it, and wanted to try it on my little guy!

Here are some of the great feature about the Safe Sippy 2:

  • Bisphenol-free

  • A sippy bottle with a "straw-like" spout

  • Comes with side handles for easy grasping

  • The outer thermoplastic sleeve keeps little hands safe from cold and hot liquids. All plastic is free of free of Bisphenol A, phthalates and DEHA

  • The stainless steel along with the protective sleeve create the most durable, ding-free cup available on the market

  • Has a no-spill valve inside the cap

  • The spout is hard and made of stable, non-toxic, #5 polypropelene plastic

  • Comes in pink, green or blue

  • They are a 2 in 1. Sippy or Straw cup!

  • Comes with a travel cap to keep the spout clean, a travel plug to prevent liquid from dripping into your diaper bag or purse, and a straw converter

The wonderful Jemima, from Kid-Basix, sent me a cup for my little guy to try out. As soon as I opened the box and brought the sippy out, he wanted it! He doesn't have a sippy that looks anything like this! So, how would he know it is his? So, I washed it up. Let me tell you before I go any further, to wash this is WONDERFUL! It is stainless steel, and for me, it feels clean! You know that no liquid is going to stick in the bottle, no smell will linger because it has permeated the walls of it. Each piece of the bottle was very easy to clean, and is dishwasher safe.

I filled up the sippy with milk for my guy and he grabbed right ahold of it. EASILY. Because there are 2 great handles on the sides, and he knew exactly what they were for.

To drink out of it, I love that you can use it as a straw cup or a sippy. It kind of grows with your baby! I also love that it comes with a travel plug. I don't know HOW many times I have thrown a sippy in my purse only to find that I need to wash out my purse later because of spilled milk. Yuck! What a great feature to have!

So, how about it? Would you like to have a Safe Sippy 2 for YOUR little guy or gal to try? Well, here is your chance!

Because Kid-Basix is giving one winner a set of 3 Safe Sippys! So, how can you enter? Here are several ways you can enter, please leave a separate comment for each. Also make sure you leave your e-mail!

I would love to have these cups for my 8 month old. He is just learning how to drink from a sippy and I too am frustrated with the ones I have purchased so far. These look like they would do the job!

There are a lot of great baby products out there! One of my favorites is the net bag feeder made by munchkin. I'm sure that is not the official product name. I love that my munchkin can hold onto the handle and suck all the juice out of a slice of peach or sink his teeth into a piece of apple. I don't have to worry about him choking because the fruit is inside the net bag! It's great for putting cold things in to let them gnaw on while teething, too.

This is kind of silly as a favorite product. But I love the sage ultra plush diaper changing pad cover. It is so soft, little guy loved rubbing their back on it after a bath. So my mom bought some of the same material to make him a travel size pillow case.

My little guy is just getting to the sippy cup age. I love that these are made without toxic plastics.

My favorite baby product, by far, is my Moby wrap. I can carry my little one in it for hours, if need be. I can't do this with any of our other carriers.

I would love to try these sippy / straw cups because I hate that my current ones leak and I've never been really crazy that they are made out of plastic.

Would LOVE these. My daughter thinks it's her mission to try to get "no-spill" sippy cups to drip all over my living room floor. It's a delight, I assure you.

My favorite baby item so far is probably those netted chew toys that you can put ice/fruit/etc in and the baby can't choke. Genius.

One of the best baby products that we used was the bottle designed by Playtex, called the Playtex Nurser. It is the kind with the plastic inserts that enable you to squeeze the air out. I was reluctant to try these, but my little girl kept throwing-up. When we switched to this bottle, she almost completely quit throwing-up.

I want to try this b/c I've recently switched to a stainless steel water bottle for myself, and it makes a lot of sense to do the same for my baby when he's old enough!

Well, I would definitely love to try these for my son.......I've had my eye on them for awhile, so I'm very interested to try them out........I'm always looking for the best drinking cups.....

Amy - AKA - TigerMommie said...

Best product.....Hmmmmm.......I don't think I can say the best product, but one of the best would have to be the phil and ted metoo seat. It was so easy to carry around and easy to use, kept him at a good height for eating out......and best of all, we didn't have to bother with dirty highchairs when we were eating out.....

The best baby product I've used lately is the "self feeder", the little mesh bag (shaped like a pacifier) that you can put food into. I like to put frozen fruit in it; my baby can chew on it and I don't have to worry about her choking on the fruit. It's a great way to beat this Texas heat! :o) kimberlyc at provo dot edu

I have a 3 yr old and a 5 month old and I hate how we are always having to buy new sippy cups for my oldest because they leak, ruin in the dishwasher or because they are just poor quality. I would love this one because it seems like it would be a great investment for my little man - who only nurses and absolutely refuses a bottle
